Front Door Facing Balcony? Understanding Piercing Heart Sha
Let’s Keep It Real
Your house has an energy flow pattern, much like a circulation system.
Classic Floor Plan Pattern 🚪➡️🪟
Open the front door and you can see straight through to the balcony window.
Translation
This is called “Piercing Heart Sha” (穿堂煞).
Energy (qi) enters the door but flows straight out the balcony before it can circulate through the house.
What This Means
A straight-through floor plan.
Resources and opportunities may come in, but they have difficulty settling and accumulating.
💡 Golden Tip (Simple Solution)
Place a screen near the entrance, or position a large potted plant along the path. This encourages Qi to “take an S-curve” before exiting.
Qi traveling straight = energy passes through quickly
Qi traveling curved = energy has time to circulate and settle
Feng Shui Practice
- Open your front door
- Stand in the doorway and look in—can you see straight through to the balcony or back window?
- If yes, consider adding an entryway screen or a large plant
Recommended plants: Money Tree, Monstera, Fiddle Leaf Fig (all substantial enough to redirect flow)
